It all started with a photo of a Portico the home owners liked. They called asking if I could replicate it to improve the curb appeal of their home in Plainview, New York. After seeing the photo, and the home, I designed something that complemented the look of their home.
A Portico is a great addition to a home. It changes the look of a house, but the design has to complement the other design elements of the original roof line and windows. It’s great to find inspiration from ones you see in different neighborhoods, but it’s important to keep an open-mind when designing one for the home you live in.
To enhance the curb appeal of your Long Island home, consult with your builder. A good builder will know how to design a Portico that doesn’t stick out like sore thumb. A great builder will design, and build a Portico that looks seamless with your existing structure… as if it has always been there.
Not just about Curb Appeal
If you want a beautiful home, with curb appeal, a Portico makes sense. However, these structures aren’t only meant to improve the look of your home. They serve as a bit of protection from the weather elements. They prove great coverage from the harsh sun, rain, and snow, whilst entering and exiting your home.
Often, they’re helpful if you have packages delivered to your home and need to keep them covered from harsh weather. Just an added bonus of the Portico life!
Perfect Plainview Portico
My customers gave me this photo for inspiration.
I designed and built, a far better version, which suited their home design more than the photo of the one they provided.
